Services ยท Rodent Control

Get the rodents out, then seal how they got in.

Trapping alone treats the symptom. Nice pairs removal with exclusion, closing the gaps rodents used, so the attic that just got cleared stays cleared.

What rodent control covers

Rodent control is a sequence, not a spray: find how they're getting in, get them out, and close the way behind them. Nice Pest Company inspects for entry points and nesting, removes rats and mice with trapping that includes humane options, seals the gaps they used, and keeps locked bait boxes working outside so the next ones never make it in. Gophers are the same job on the yard side, worked with active trapping in the tunnels. Roof rat pressure peaks October through March, when they move indoors.

The rodents Valley homes actually get

Three show up on our routes, and they break into different parts of the property.

  • 01

    Rats

Roof rats are the Valley's signature: they travel trees and fence lines, love citrus, and nest in attics. Norway rats stay lower, near trash and water.

  • 02

    Mice

House mice squeeze through openings the size of a dime and breed a new litter every three to four weeks, which is how one sighting becomes an infestation.

  • 03

    Gophers

The rodent that never comes inside. Arizona gophers tunnel under lawns, irrigation systems, and landscaping, and they can take all three apart quickly. The method is different too: active trapping in the runs themselves, not bait boxes.

How our rodent control works

Removal without exclusion is a revolving door, so the sealing step is the one that makes the rest permanent.

  1. Inspect.

Entry points, droppings, grease trails, and nesting tell us what you have and how it's getting in. A gap the size of a quarter is enough for a rat.

  2. Remove.

Trapping placed on the runs they actually use, with safe and humane options for getting rodents out.

  3. Seal.

Rodent-proofing closes the entry points so the problem doesn't repeat with the next cold snap.

  4. Monitor.

Locked, pet-safe bait boxes outside intercept rodents before they reach the house, checked and maintained on the every-other-month route.

Rodent prevention tips

Most of this job is ours. A handful of habits on your end are what keep a cleared house cleared, and these are off Nice's own prevention list.

  • Trim tree branches back off the roof.

  • Store pet food and bird seed in sealed containers.

  • Keep garages and storage areas clear of clutter.

  • Seal new cracks and openings as they turn up.

  • Ask your tech which yard conditions are drawing gophers in.

  • Report fresh gopher mounds as soon as you see them.

Why a pro beats a hardware-store trap

A trap catches the one rodent that finds it and does nothing about the gap it walked through, the nest it came from, or the litter arriving in three weeks.

  • Exclusion work closes the entry points, not just the current tenants.

  • Bait boxes are locked and placed where rodents run, away from pets.

  • Monitoring catches the next attempt before you hear it in the ceiling.

What rodent control costs

Rodent work is quoted per home, separate from the recurring pest plan, because the traps, the sealing, and the follow-up visits depend on the level of activity we find. Exterior bait boxes can be added to any recurring plan for $15 per service, and we send a no-obligation estimate by text before any work starts.

Good to know

Questions? We've got answers.

Straight answers to what Valley homeowners ask us most. Still not sure about something? We're happy to talk it through.

How do I know if I have roof rats?

Scratching or scurrying in the ceiling at night is the classic sign, since roof rats are nocturnal and nest in attics. Others: droppings in the garage or pantry, chewed wiring or food packaging, hollowed-out citrus on the tree, and grease marks along the paths they run.

How are rodents getting into my house?

Through smaller gaps than you'd guess: a quarter-sized opening admits a rat, a dime-sized one a mouse. Roof gaps, vents, and the points where utilities enter the house are the usual doors, and roof rats reach them by traveling trees, fences, and power lines.

When is rodent season in Arizona?

Rodents breed year-round in the Valley's mild climate, but pressure peaks from October through March, when cooling weather pushes roof rats and mice indoors for warmth and food. That's when attic noise complaints spike, and it's the season the sealing work pays for itself.

Are the bait boxes safe around pets and kids?

Yes. The stations are locked and tamper-resistant, placed outside along the routes rodents travel rather than anywhere your family uses. Only a rodent can get to the bait, and your tech checks and re-baits them at each every-other-month visit.

How do you get rid of gophers?

Active trapping, which is one of the most effective methods for eliminating gophers. Your technician inspects the property to locate the active tunnel systems, identifies fresh mounds and feeding areas, and sets professional traps inside the active tunnels. We come back to check and reset them until the activity stops. Because every property is different, the number of traps and follow-up visits depends on the level of activity.

What damage do gophers do to a yard?

Gophers tunnel underground and can destroy lawns, irrigation systems, and landscaping quickly. Most of the damage happens out of sight, so the first thing people notice is fresh dirt mounds pushed up across the yard. Those mounds mark tunnels that are currently in use, which is what makes them worth reporting early rather than raking flat.

How much does rodent control cost?

Ongoing prevention runs on the recurring plan, and the exterior bait-box add-on is $15 per service. For an active infestation, we send a no-obligation estimate by text before any work starts, so you see the number first.
