German cockroaches
The small indoor breeder. They arrive in boxes and bags, settle behind kitchens and bathrooms, and multiply fast: an established German roach problem is a population, not a visitor.

The big ones, American cockroaches to the label. They live outdoors and in drains and come up or wander in, especially through summer and monsoon season. Alarming, but usually a perimeter problem rather than an infestation.

Why do I have roaches in a clean house?
Because the usual Valley roach doesn't care about your housekeeping. Sewer roaches live outdoors and in drains and wander in through gaps, door sweeps, and plumbing penetrations, especially in summer. German roaches hitchhike in on boxes and bags. Cleanliness slows an infestation; it can't block the ways in.
Do cockroaches bite?
Rarely. Roaches aren't aggressive toward people, and bites happen mostly in severe infestations when food is scarce. If it happens, wash the spot with soap and water and apply an antiseptic. Honestly, a roach bite's real message is that the population indoors has gotten serious.
How fast can a roach problem grow?
Fast. A single female's line can produce hundreds of roaches in a year, and German cockroaches in a warm kitchen breed continuously. Roaches also survive without food for months, so a quiet stretch doesn't mean they left. Early treatment is dramatically cheaper than late treatment.
Are cockroaches actually a health problem?
Yes. Beyond the contamination of surfaces and food they walk on, roach droppings and shed skins are a well-documented asthma and allergy trigger, particularly for kids. Clearing an infestation is a housekeeping upgrade and an air-quality one at the same time.
