Chocolate chip pancakes, pool mornings, kids yelling “ready, set, go,” and a husband who knows exactly how terrified his wife is of bugs.

Meet the Olivers, one of our very first customers in San Tan Valley. They’ve been with us since Nice Pest Company opened its doors in September 2024.

Amanda and her husband, Kyree, live in San Tan Valley with their daughter Layla, their son Knox, and a baby on the way. We sat down with Amanda for It’s a Nice Day With, our series about the families, people, and places that make Arizona feel like home.

Meet the Oliver Family

Amanda describes Layla in one word: sassy. Knox? Daring. “We’re constantly hearing, ‘Ready, set, go,’” Amanda said. It’s usually while one of the kids is climbing on something or preparing to jump from somewhere they probably shouldn’t.

Life at the Oliver house is busy, which is probably exactly how they like it.

A Typical Saturday in San Tan Valley

A typical Saturday morning at their house starts with chocolate chip pancakes. Then the kids play. Then, because this is Arizona, everyone eventually ends up in the pool.

Their house has a soundtrack too. Amanda says the family’s unofficial theme song is “Pretty Girls Walk Like This.” “It is not the most appropriate thing, but they love it,” she said. “It always makes you smile on a bad day.”

What People Get Wrong About San Tan Valley

The Olivers call San Tan Valley home, and Amanda says people who don’t live there are often surprised by how developed the area actually is. “They’re like, ‘What is San Tan Valley?’” she said.

With San Tan Valley only recently moving toward incorporation, some people assume the area itself is new. It isn’t. “People think it’s, like, new, but there’s over 100,000 people here,” Amanda said.

For Amanda and her family, it’s simply home.

Favorite San Tan Valley and Queen Creek Spots

When family or friends come to visit, the Olivers already know where they’re taking them:

  • San Tan Flat, their go-to for a night out
  • Queen Creek Olive Mill
  • Schnepf Farms

If you live around San Tan Valley or Queen Creek, there’s a good chance at least one of those is already on your family’s list too.

A Neighbor Who Became a Friend

We asked Amanda about a local business owner her family considers a friend. She immediately thought of their neighbor, Landon Do, who owns Helix Landscape Design and Construction.

The way they became friends was pretty simple: their kids were around the same age. “We just saw kids at the same age. Introduced ourselves,” Amanda said.

Sometimes that’s all it takes.

Their San Tan Valley Pest Control Story

Amanda has a very simple relationship with bugs: she wants absolutely nothing to do with them. “I have the biggest fear of bugs,” she said.

Kyree, however, has apparently decided this is an opportunity for entertainment. “If there is something found, Kyree will grab it and chase me around with it,” Amanda said.

That usually ends the same way, with a text to Travis: “I need help. Get all of this away now.”

Amanda has been a Nice Pest customer since day one. Before working with us, though, she wasn’t completely convinced pest control was even legitimate. “They were scamming,” she thought, guessing companies might be “spraying water or something random.”

Her reasoning made sense: “Because it was always a teenager that was at your door selling it to you.”

It’s exactly why we talk openly about what pest control in San Tan Valley actually looks like. You should know who is coming to your home, what they’re doing, and why. It doesn’t need to feel complicated, and it shouldn’t feel like a door-to-door sales pitch.

An Arizona Hidden Gem Near Queen Creek

Ask Amanda about an Arizona hidden gem and she’ll point you past the desert. “The lakes,” she said. “People don’t really think that you can be on the water here.”

The Oliver family likes Saguaro Lake.

It’s an easy thing to forget about Arizona. There’s plenty of desert, but a lot more here too.

The Teal McDonald’s in Sedona

One of Amanda’s favorite Arizona memories came from a trip to Sedona with a friend whose bucket-list item was visiting the teal McDonald’s. It’s not exactly the first thing most people think of when they hear Sedona. That was the point. “It might not have been something we could take home, but the memory was special,” Amanda said.

What’s Always in Amanda’s Bag in July

Arizona moms understand this question immediately. What has to come with you every time you leave the house in July?

Water. Wipes. Bars. That’s the list.

Why Arizona?

We gave Amanda one sentence to convince someone to move to Arizona: “There’s a little bit of everything here. You can always have air conditioner.”

Fair.

Home Feels Safe When...

We finish every It’s a Nice Day With conversation the same way. We ask guests to complete the sentence “Home feels safe when...”

Amanda’s answer was simple: “When there’s less that I’ll have to worry about.”

That’s a pretty good way to describe what we want pest control to do too. It shouldn’t become another big thing in your life. It should be one less thing to worry about, especially when your husband keeps finding bugs to chase you with.

Trusted Pest Control in San Tan Valley and Queen Creek

Nice Pest Company has helped families throughout San Tan Valley, Queen Creek, and the East Valley with the Arizona pests that like to make themselves at home. We’ve been doing it since September 2024, when families like the Olivers took a chance on us as some of our very first customers.

Our job is simple: take care of the bugs so you can worry about the other stuff, like what Knox is about to jump off next.
